How do you follow up a legendary "Bucket List" interview? How about with a Juno Award winner! Joining last week's "Creature Feature" Exciter at the Manitoba Metalfest was Canuck trad metallers Striker! So now is a great time to get caught up with former RAM alum vox Dan Cleary. We discussed winning said award and the "Strike Her!" gag from the classic "Airplane" flick. Last episode we took the Nuge up to task for the beef with Joan Jett. So we put our money where our mouths is and came up with our own "Top Ten Greatest guitarists" lists. To do this properly, it's definitely harder than it seems. Like the lady said..."We're so excited!" First off, this is another milestone with episode 700!! Plus, we recently experienced a night of firsts at the recent Manitoba Metalfest. It was the first time the legendary Exciter played our neck of the woods. It was the first time we've seen the classic line up live. And finally, it was the first time we had the good fortune of getting drummer/vox Dan Beetler onto our interview hotseat. Our excitement for Exciter goes back as far as for Heavy Metal itself with the classic "Violence And Force" album. So we didn't even really know where to begin with Mr. Beehler. But at the same time we had a thousand questions for him. We discussed the band's history with Megaforce Records and what the future holds! Another Bucket List interview! In our "News, Views and Tunes", we go into extra innings discussing Judas Priest and Onslaught going into the "Rock n Roll" and "Metal" HOFs, the impending return of Spinal Tap, and completely dissect the Joan Jett/Ted Nugent beef. Heavy Metal comes in all shapes, sounds, forms and sub (sub) genres. But one constant is the electric guitar. The guitar epitomizes Heavy Metal. So if you're not a well seasoned player, then the guitar could be taken for granted. Or at least to the point where, as fans, we don't necessarily have a firm grasp on the instrument. 50% of us here at RAM are a said seasoned player. And the other half is more of an appreciator. So combining our efforts, we're taking a look at the driving force behind our beloved genre. Namely, our takes on the major offerings from the major brands. Another Record Store Day is in the books! In our travels, we had a few misses. But the hits were nuclear! Apart from the cool new official releases, RSD is an overall experience. Mr. Dan Lilker recently announced that Nuclear Assault will be hanging up their leather spiked boots soon.
