Episode 672: Matt Of Steel - interview with Matt Harvey (Exhumed, Gruesome)
Wednesday Sep 22, 2021
Wednesday Sep 22, 2021
With the rise of superhero movies dominating the box office, these days it seems like it's almost fashionable to be a geek. Veteran death metaller Matt Harvey (Exhumed, Pounder) was a geek long before being a geek was cool. Mr. Harvey grew up on horror/ monster movies, sci-fi and comic books. So being the talented musician he is, his latest project was inevitable. "The Last Son Of Krypton" is an amazing instrumental soundtrack for a film that only exists in Harvey's mind. Drawing influence from the John Williams-esque composers, Harvey has created a beautiful set of music worthy to accompany the next "Man Of Steel" flick. Now Mr. Harvey once again sits down with us to tell all about this "super" project. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we crank the title track + some of Matt's other projects, Pounder and Expulsion. As well, lots of New and Used from The Troops of Doom, Trappist, Sacrifixion, Get The Most, Morta Skuld, and introduce Montreal's CroMagnum in our 'Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 670: Cringey Metal
Friday Sep 10, 2021
Friday Sep 10, 2021
Normally when using words like "cringe" and "creepy" with regards to our beloved genre, it's used in a more artistic and horror related manner. Death and Goth Metal aside, a few of the more mainstream Heavy Rock/Metal artists have put pen to paper and come up with some rather cringeworthy lyrics. Call it art from a different era, if you will. Nonetheless, some classic songs (KISS, The Nuge, Winger a.o.) have made us go "Ugh!" and took us down some dark paths that "old time rock n roll" shouldn't take us. So we gave some of these creepy tunes the once over. And it's not even Halloween...yet! In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss the new Maiden and bullies in music school(!) Musically, we crank new tunage from Lucifyre, Gama Bomb, Expunged, Imprecation and introduce Ottawa deathsters Deformatory in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 669: In Trouble - Tribute to Eric Wagner
Thursday Sep 02, 2021
Thursday Sep 02, 2021
The RAM office was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Eric Wagner. Mr. Wagner was most noted as the founder and frontman of the legendary Trouble. The Doom metallers have a special place in our Metal Hearts, so we wanted to pay tribute. Former co host Roch was the creator and host of our awesome "Album Autopsy" series. The first episode focused on the amazing self titled, and eventually christened "Psalm 9", debut. Mr. Roch sat down with Mr. Wagner, drummer Jeff Olsen and Metal Blade producer Bill Metoyer. Together they dive deep into this important record. So in honour of Mr. Wagner, we present this encore presentation. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we tackle the baby (aka elephant) in the swimming pool (aka living room). Is this lawsuit justified? Or a cash grab? As well, we took in our first live show in eighteen months!! Musically, we crank new and used from the aforementioned Trouble, the unique new Matt Harvey (Exhumed) album, Warzone, 7 Year Bitch, MainEEaxe, Burning Witch, Sudden Impact, Domination Campaign and introduce Finnish punk n rollers Graveyard Shifters in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Thursday Aug 26, 2021
Thursday Aug 26, 2021
We found ourselves sans "Creature Feature" again this week. But no matter, as there was enough going on in the World of Heavy Metal to grab our attention. The month of August has some off the beaten path anniversaries. Death Metal legends Cannibal Corpse dropped their infamous debut this month in '90. As well, this is the 20th anniversary of Go-Gos vocalist Belinda Carlisle appearing Playboy(!) But honestly... we read the article too! Finally, we share our theory of 80's hard rocker Billy Squire being the original Rage Against The Machine(!!) In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we go over our "Metal Fix" and crank tunage from the aforementioned C.C. + new and used from Negative Approach, Vincent Crowley, Acid Witch, Wormwitch, Pantychrist and the amazing Lingua Ignota! Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 667: The Neighbour Of The Beast
Thursday Aug 12, 2021
Thursday Aug 12, 2021
Welcome to the week after The Big One! Following our monumental 666th episode, the music world celebrated another milestone. It was the 40th anniversary of the debut of MTV. Of course even in those early years MTV never meant much to Metal fans. Apart from the Headbanger's Ball, the only thing of interest was the fact that some of the coolest vids were constantly being barred from airplay. So we choose to "celebrate" EmptyV by giving these vids the once over. As well, Canada's "Loud As Hell" fest just went down. Our good buddy, and co host of our sister show "Wrestling Night In Canada", Dustin "Ducky" Maruca was there and gives his "On The Spot Report!" All this plus a metric fvck ton of cool tunage from Wolves In The Throne Room, Into Eternity, Despise You, Dead Kennedys, Cell, Krigsgrav and White Cowbell Oklahoma!! Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

As one of the longest running podcasts (of any kind), Radioactive Metal continues to roll. Of course, only a Metal program would acknowledge episode 666 as a milestone. After 665 episodes, we are here - The Big One! To celebrate we got "the band back together" and tapped former co hort Roch to co host. We cracked open some bevies and reminisced about some of our fave memories. We go over some unique interview locales and the times we got the rock star treatment. For a "Creature Feature", it had to be an artist worthy of this position. Death Metal legends Aborted fits the bill. With a new record "Maniacult" on the racks, we spoke with vocalist Sven de Caluwe'. We discussed said album, his continued relationship with Megadeth's Dirk Verbeuren and our mutual love of all things geek! In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we pay tribute to our recently fallen comrades and crank a Fistful of Metal including Aborted, Master, Metal Church, Exhumed, Heretic, Nile, Iron Reagan, Cathedral, Putrescence, Flash Out and Metal Against Coronavirus (??) So Happy Whatever to us. Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

We're always looking for that unique interview guest. Band interviews are the bread and butter of this show. But there are so many unsung areas all with a story of their own. Enter - Jade Willow. Miss. Willow is a "D.I.Y. model", adult content creator, fellow podcaster and an all 'round interesting person. So we wanted to hear her story first hoof. We get into her modelling, the wonderful world of OnlyFans, and into her mental advocacy with her "Shedding Skin" podcast. All this with her cool Black Metal look! Awesome! In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss our latest vinyl therapy haul and the new Maiden single/video.
