Thursday May 06, 2021
Break out the heavy artillery! Legendary thrashers Artillery are back with another killer record! Appropriately entitled "X", this latest platter is the outfit's 10th (!) album. And these Dutch metallers are showing no signs of letting up. They preserved over personal adversity and Father Time himself. And sounding better than ever! We sat down with axeman/founder Micheal Stutzer and got the scoop on this momentous record. We discussed the writing process without his brother and bandmate Morten (RIP) and shared his current relationship with other Danish legends. "X" is fresh on the racks so...Run! Don't Walk! and grab a copy! In our "News, Views and Tunes", we go over the Decibel 200th issue live stream. As well, we discuss the "We're Not Gonna Take It" lawsuit against an Australian politician and the Pat O'Brien (ex-Cannibal Corpse) verdict. Musically, we crank brand new Artillery and Midnight. Plus cool tunage from Tank, Whiplash, D.R.I., Incantation, Disaster Strikes, Crypts Of Despair and re-introduce DiGregorio (feat. our own Aaron) in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Thursday Apr 29, 2021
Thursday Apr 29, 2021
No "Creature Feature?" No pro-blem-o! Here at the RAM offices, we're veterans of the scene. A.K.A. we're old. Having gone heavy music full time in '84, we've seen a lot stuff about our beloved genre come and go. While we look back fondly on what was, there is a number of cool stuff from today we'd love to take back to those glory daze. On the flip side, there's a number of cool stuff from yesteryear that we'd love to see as a part of today's scene. So we put on our thinking helmets and share our thought on creating a "fully armed and operational" Metal World! In our "News, Views and Tunes", we crank new tunage from Artillery, Pestilence, CroMags, Bongzilla, Morbosidad and introduce Pennsylvania's Befell in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 651: Radioactive Wrasslin' - interview with Nasty Savage
Thursday Apr 22, 2021
Thursday Apr 22, 2021
More and more the connection between our beloved genre and the world of professional wrestling is getting stronger and stronger. Ring entrance music, gimmicks and, most importantly, a lot of wrestler's themselves are real life Metalheads. One of the original crossovers is Nasty Savage maiman "Nasty" Ronnie. In our youth, we started out as Nasty Savage fans. But then we really "marked" out when Mr. Ronnie took his outrageous stage antics to the squared circle in his home state of Florida. Ronnie was actually a "Bucket List' interview from the get go, and with it being Wrestlemania season, getting him on the horn was an easy match up. We discussed the early years of NS, his journey into the mat world, right up to his "Born To Ride" TV series. This being a special wrestling episode, we enlisted the talents of "Ducky" Dustin Maruca and Matt Copper from our sister show "Wrestling Night In Canada". We discussed Ozzy going into the WWE Hall of Fame, the Misfits stint in WCW, and our picks for musicians that would make great wrasslers! If all this doesn't get us the Three Count then musically we crank some Savage, God's Hate, Hirax, Piledriver, Hallow's Eve, AntiSeen, Brody's Militia, and Eat The Turnbuckle! Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 650: Eargazm - interview with Eye and Ear Control Records
Sunday Apr 11, 2021
Sunday Apr 11, 2021
Band interviews rule. They're the bread and butter of this show. There are a number of other facets of our beloved genre that don't always get their just due. We've spoken to a number of these unsung heroes before; producers, authors/writers, record company dudes. Mr. Brad Skibinsky offers up something different. He's a one man vinyl distributor behind Eye and Ear Control Records. Basically, he's his own record shop and mail-order. And an all round cool dude we've known for quite awhile from the scene. So we're stoked to present his story. We discuss the idea, the inspiration and passion behind the enterprise. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", Record Store Day(s) will be upon us soon. We we deep dive into the upcoming releases and make our own Want Lists. Musically, we crank some Blasphemy, Asagraum, Horndal, Bloody Hell, Destroyed in Seconds, Humanity Is Cancer and introduce Montreal metallers WarCall in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!!

Episode 649: Hel Awaits! - interview with Helstar
Sunday Apr 04, 2021
Sunday Apr 04, 2021
Veteran rockers are getting the best of yesterday and today. Today's scene is full of young talent. And the old guard is still creating killer tunes. Texas metallers Helstar are a great example of the old guard giving the upstarts a run for their moolah. Helstar have a wicked new record on the racks entitled "Clad In Black". A cool comp. featuring new singles, cover tunes, and a re issue of the killer "Vampiro" album. So it's a good time to get vox/mainman James Rivers on the horn. We discussed said record, the 80s TX metal scene, and his obvious vampire obsession. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we go over Jon Schaffer's "Do Over" and those very unique Motorhead bullets. Musically, we crank new and used Helstar plus Blaspherian, Agent Steel, Motor Jesus, Bullet Belt, Steel Baring Hand, live Autopsy, new Hell's Headbanger's signees Nocturnal Departure and intro Toronto metallers Devilz By Definition in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 648: Award Winner - Juno Awards (Heavy Metal Album)
Saturday Mar 27, 2021
Saturday Mar 27, 2021
It's that time again. Generally as a rule, music awards mean two things to heavy music fans - jack and shite'! But we do seem to take notice when it comes to the categories that mean something to us. With the grammys in the can, we can now focus on the upcoming Junos, the Canadian equivalent. Specifically, the Heavy Metal Album of the Year Award. So with that in mind, we're going to forego a "Creature Feature", and delve into our thoughts and picks from this year's nominees. As well, we pay tribute to Gerri Miller, editor pf the great Metal Edge magazine. Which took us down a rabbit hole discussing our past experiences with the wonderful world of metal mags. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we crank tunage from Helstar, Depths Of Hatred, Caskets Open, Bikini Kill, Vile Creature, Unleash The Archers and introduce San Diego metallers Monarch in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 647: Fistful Of Entombed - with Aaron Price (Fistful of Metal magazine)
Thursday Mar 18, 2021
Thursday Mar 18, 2021
As we began compiling this week's episode, tragedy struck the Metal world. We lost one of the all time greats in L.G. Petrov, mainman behind the legendary Entombed. So we decided a fitting tribute was in order. To assist us we enlisted the insights of Aaron Price. Mr. Price is a scribe for the new "Fistful Of Metal" magazine. We sat down and discussed all things Entombed: our fave album, song and our discovery of the band. And probably most importantly, we predict the future of an Entombed incarnation without the main mouthpiece. No L.G. = No Entombed? In our "News, Views and Tunes", we acknowledge the passing of Lou Otten, the inventor of the cassette, and our experiences with the medium. Plus, Rob Zombie remaking The Munsters??!! Musically, we crank some Nihilist, Cryptopsy, Entrails, Wolf King, Witchtit, Revel In Flesh and introduce Cerbearus in the week's "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 646: Kvlted!! - interview with Culted
Friday Mar 12, 2021
Friday Mar 12, 2021
This global crisis has radically altered a lot of things and the way we go about doing them. For musicians, it's the lack of live performing and the challenges of trying to jam/write new material. For Season Of Mist recording artists Culted... well, not much has changed. With 3/4 of the line up hailing from Winnipeg, Canada, and the other 1/4 residing in Sweden, the entire band has never been face to face. With the new album "Nous" on the racks, it's a good time to get multi-instrumentalist Micheal Klassen back on the show. We discussed the band's new record, their unique situation, and made vocalist Daniel Jannson an honorary Winnipegger! This chat sparked our own discussion in our "News, Views, and Tunes", going over what constitutes a "local band" and when/if the designation changes with international success. Musically, we crank the new Culted + cool stuff from Terror, Tombs, Venomous Concept, Sleepless, Meth Leppard, Direct Action, Demoniac and introduce Vancouver bashers Anarcheon in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!!

Episode 645: Heatseeker - interview with Endseeker
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
First up, "Mount Carcass" is one helluva title! So it should only be fitting that it be the monicker of an awesome album. And.. written and recorded by an awesome band! That's what we have with death metallers Endseeker's new Metal Blade release (Apr. 16th). The band hails from Germany but have that Swedish HM2 sound. With all of our recent talk about that particular pedal, it was enough to want to get axeman Ben Liepelt on the horn. We also discussed the new promo vid for the first single (zombie cheerleaders!!) and his thoughts on Germany's legendary artists. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", the first issue of our Decibel subscription arrived and we pounded back the bevvies (cyberlly, if that's a word) with death legends Cianide! Musically, we crank the new Endseeker, the aforementioned Cianide, Coronary, Skeleton, Lizzy Borden, Lik, Eviction, Cave Bastard and we introduce Montreal folk metallers Valfreya in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 644: Musical Bliss - interview with Terminal Bliss
Thursday Feb 25, 2021
Thursday Feb 25, 2021
"Never stop learning" isn't just an old adage. It's solid advice. When the Relapse debut from Richmond bashers Terminal Bliss came across our desk, it had us scratching our heads. "Brute Err/ata" is a unique monicker. And after cranking the record we knew we had to get the band on the horn and enlighten us. Prepping for our chat, we soon discovered we were going to enjoy a lot about the band, as opposed to a quick vocabulary chat. Axeman Mike Taylor gave us all the ins and outs about this killer record, as well as discussing the vastly underrated Richmond scene. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we dispel some myths as the local punk scene opens their doors to those less fortunate during this winter cold snap. Musically, we crank said Terminal record and cool stuff from Razor, Gravesend, Iron Reagan, Bleach Everything, Socioclast, Graveripper, Ominous Ruin, and introduce Malice Divine in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!
